Hello all,

Non tech savvy girl here & new to Mac, so here's another question or two.

I recently purchased a brand new Macbook M4 24GB/512GB.

It works extremely well, but there are a couple of things that seem amiss.

When I first opened the box, the Mac was completely discharged & wouldn't turn on - so I gave it a full charge to 100%. I checked charge cycles, and it showed 2 cycles.

I gave it another full charge today when the battery dropped to 40%, and the cycle count hasn't changed at all & still showing 2 cycles.

Further to this, it shows "last charged to 100% on the 01/01/1970 even though the time & date on my Mac are correct.

Can anyone shed any light on what's going on & how to get this corrected, please?

Charging from 40% to 100% isn't a full cycle; it's 60% of one. The next time your battery gets 40% or more charged, that counts as a full charge.

The last date charged, I'd wait a few days and see what happens.

like the other one said, give it a couple more days for the date, then maybe give it a reboot as well. Sounds like a simple software glitch, as much as Macs are generally very stable, they still have little bugs here and there that generally a simple reboot can fix.

Thanks for the replies, guys, you're a great bunch.

With regards the "last charged to 100%" and "charge cycle number" features, are these still capable of updating when the Mac is shutdown, or does it require the Mac to be in sleep mode to see these change, please?
