Currently i have 1 GB on my 2007 Macbook and i'm debating on if i should upgrade to 4GB or just 2 GB's RAM. Is there a need for 4GB's on the Macbook? I mainly get on the internet and do other light applications on it.

If i decide to upgrade later to Lion 10.7 if its compatible with the Macbook. would i need to install 10.6 first? or can it be skipped?

It can only be skipped, if you buy the 69 USD Lion USB thumb drive, otherwise 10.6 is needed, due to the Mac App Store (MAS).

My late '08 Macbook came with 2gb ram but it seemed noticeably faster when I upgraded to 4GB. And with the prices so close together, you may as well get 4GB.
