Anyone using the Neo with headphones? Just wondered what the sound was like. They haven’t stated that it supports high impedance headphones but I’m just wondering what it sounds like with over ear headphones?

Thanks!

What is a High Impedance headphone ?

I normally use bluetooth wireless when I use my over the ear headphones.

High-end studio quality headphones in the 100-600 ohm range, typically used in mixing and mastering. Regular wired headphones are in the 16-40ish ohm range.

You need a more powerful audio amp to make them work, otherwise they will be super quiet.
Ah, my brother who is a musician and uses Logic Pro would be the same boat ?

I'll ask him about the headphones.

All I listen to is Tidal music in MQA and FLAC formats on my Mac Studio with the iFi adapter to my sound speakers.

Yeah if you have to ask what high impedance headphones are: you likely don't have them.

It has a regular headphone jack, it will sound similar to anything else with a regular headphone jack.

Possibly! I've listened to them and couldn't tell a difference, but I don't have a very discerning ear.

As for the Neo, most people who use them have an external amp anyway. They are rarely drove directly from the computer.

Yeah I won't be using my Heil BM-17 headset with the Neo. That's fine since it is primarily for my amateur radios anyway.

I tested the Neo with my 250 ohm DT 990s. At Max volume it gets "loud enough" for me, a similar volume level on the MacBook Pro is somewhere around 50% volume. Better than I expected to be honest.

For my Beyerdynamic T1 Gen 3 it's no problem at all, but all their newer drivers are designed to run off anything.

I have Bose Ultra Noise Cancelation headphones. They sound great with the Neo!

Also, I have an Apple Home Pod 2 and the sound is excellent.

It powers my Audeze LCD-XC to a "loud" level just fine. They don't sound good though... 🙃

Back to my dac/amp!
