The colorful new wallpapers that Apple introduced with the MacBook Neo are available for all Macs in the fourth beta of macOS Tahoe 26.4 that came out for developers today.

Featuring bubble-style lines with colorful gradients, the wallpapers come in Mac Purple, Mac Blue, Mac Pink, and Mac Yellow. The design and the colors spell out the word "Mac."

Beta testers can use the new wallpapers by opening up the System Settings app, going to the Wallpaper option, and scrolling down to the Pictures section.

Apple typically makes all of the wallpapers that it designs for Mac marketing images available to all Macs, so the new Neo wallpapers join wallpapers created for the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, and other machines.

Today's macOS Tahoe 26.4 update also adds new emoji characters, like trombone, treasure chest, distorted face, hairy creature, fight cloud, orca, and landslide.

The fourth beta of macOS Tahoe 26.4 is limited to developers, but it should soon be released for public beta testers as well. The update is expected to launch this spring.

(The "M" is apparently three units wide, overlapping the "A," which is also apparently three units wide. But it looks like the "C" is… only two units wide? Why isn't it also three units wide, also overlapping the "A"?)

The green version is one of the best wallpapers Apple has done in quite some time. It's bold and vibrant. It reminds me of the old Mac OS9 wallpapers.

Like we said last week, if you're on MR in the middle of a work day (or any day), you're not the target market for the Neo and their wallpapers.

I just wish iOS wouldn't gatekeep wallpapers specific to device.

I think the C is also three wide, overlapping with the A

Would someone mind putting the full path to where to find the wallpapers and screen savers once they are downloaded? I tried some ChatGPT and googling, but when I follow the folder structure the folders are empty.

(and I also wish there was a way to download all of them in one swoop. I love the landscape videos/wallpapers but you can only download one at a time and have to wait until it is finished before you download the next one) 🙁

That caught my eye as well. I am guessing this looked better than having 2 sets of ovals on the top and bottom to make the arms of the “C”. I’d make one if I had any photoshop skills, but I don’t 😬

I really wish they would do this for iOS/iPadOS as well. Let us use wallpapers from other devices!
I’m sure someone out there will reformat it so people can download and set it on there too. I can’t upgrade to Tahoe on my iMac but will look for these.

… because the C is just two units wide natively but you need 7 units for symmetry.

That's certainly not a thoughtless answer. But why would a "c" be narrower than an "a" in any font? And even if we changed the number of units, what's less symmetrical about an even number of units than an odd number?
