Customers planning to get a new MacBook Neo tomorrow will need to install a day one update. Apple today released macOS Tahoe 26.3.2, which is available for the new Mac.

According to Apple's release notes for macOS Tahoe 26.3.2, it includes bug fixes and security updates. Apple will likely require the software to be installed during the MacBook Neo setup process.

As of yesterday, there is also a version of the macOS Tahoe 26.4 beta that's compatible with the MacBook Neo, and also Apple's new M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models.

The MacBook Neo is set to launch on March 11, with the first customers who pre-ordered receiving their shipments. Apple retail locations worldwide will also have stock of the new device.

Don't most new hardware releases have a day one software update? I assume the assembly and initial setup from apple, for any hardware, happens a good amount of time before delivery, so yeah, there's going to be updates.

BRITISH ENGLISH! No such thing, it is English.

The confusing part to me is “updates and bug fixes” boilerplate. Are there reeeeally bug fixes? They said the same thing about the one last week to support the new display. Did we reeeeeally all need that update right away when only a vanishingly small fraction of iPhone users will ever use it with that display?

Duh. Sometimes I wish I could turn back to those glorious days when MR had only “like” as the possible reaction to post. It’s bad enough to scroll through a load of toxic comments, but having these passive aggressive “laughing” faces as well as thumbs down below every story is getting out of hand . Apparently some people think it’s cool.

Can we just assume that all future Apple product releases will have a day-one software update and stop publishing this same story over and over again?

Well it breaks managed devices, which think 26.3.2 is the most recent version, but which also won't install it because its not a Neo... great job Apple!

Why is someone wishing for no comments, reading the comment section?

I’m guessing it’s going to have, at the very latest, MacOS 26.3, which was all that was available for apple to pre-install at the time of packaging all the MacBook neo’s. The day one update, will be 26.3.1. Hence the “updates and bug fixes”, it’s the update from last week that hasn’t yet been installed on any neo’s.

Mostly replying to say that I like your signature. Also you're probably right.

Not a chance 😅

If we still get separate "Apple stopped offering the old version of iOS", "Apple stopped offering the old version of iPadOS" and "Apple stopped offering the old version of macOS" articles then we're gonna get these ones.

This is not at all surprising and happens all the time in the recent past. Also it is not a huge issue to update immediately upon unboxing the device.
