I don't get Safari's hate.

Chrome is not what it used to be when it came out. It isn't slow, but it isn't insanely fast.

Safari will always be more battery efficient, smoother, and more integrated.

The only customizability I would like to see in Safari is with tabs.

I like how smooth safari is but I don't really like the tab behaviour. I'm too used to the way it works on other browsers. Tabs on top, middle clicking to close tabs, and things like that.

Plus how it reloads when you go back a page with adblock installed is really, really annoying. Other than that, I like it.

I use Chrome exclusively--unless I'm on battery. It drains the battery much quicker than safari.

on older macs (like my 2010 MBP) it triggers the dGPU. Battery like isn't even half when using chrome compared to Safari

Mainly Safari; Firefox for debugging... can't get used with other developer tools over the good and old Firebug.

Thank you. I completely forgot that I had turned off graphic switching, and I think that was affecting battery life negatively.

I've actually been on Firefox over both recently. Safari has an issue when I visit a site like reddit and go back it wants to refresh the entire page, which annoys he heck out of me.

Safari runs smoother because afaik, it's the only browser that has the NitroJS engine, which is Apple-proprietary. Chrome and Firefox don't have it.

But when it comes to HTML5 sites, Safari doesn't do a really good job, so I use Firefox for this.

Chrome is Google and anything Google that you use will be sent back to Google for them to target ads at you.

Google is also in bed with the NSA. Sure, some of their engineers issued a big '**** you' message to the NSA, but I don't buy the story, because it's the management that's in bed with the NSA. All their statements about 'protecting privacy' is all PR bulls**t.
