Macbook "No batteries available"

So I woke up this morning and on the little battery icon my Macbook says "no batteries available". If I pull the power cord, it will shut down. If I press the button on the battery, no LEDs light up. Any ideas?

Same thing happened to my girlfriend's macbook. She called Apple and they shipped her a brand new battery next day. My advice would be to do the same and give Apple, or your local Apple retailer if you have one, a call. They should do something very similar if not the exactly the same thing.
