Hi there,

Thanks in advance for looking and any help on this !
Need repair hint on: White Macbook Late 2006 / model number A1181

Macbook´s Magsafe power adapter show´s constantly green light if attached, but:
Macbook does not charge battery and:
Macbook can´t run WITHOUT battery on MagSafe power only, but:
Macbook runs fine with battery externally charged (can load battery in second macbook, same build).

Did already:
Switch MacSafe adapter with same builds.
Clean Macsafe connector contacts. (Pins seem ok)
Clean internal battery connector.
Replace MacSafe board. (original part).
Reset all there is to reset.

System Profiler says (translating):
MacSafe attached: yes
Battery charging: no

If macbook runs on externally loaded battery, software/machine seems 100% ok.
It just can´t draw power through the adapter, though green light says it does.
As said before thanks for any knowledge on this !

Has the battery always been like that? Sounds like you have the wrong charger, or the charger is faulty as it's not supplying enough power to run your laptop on its own. A genuine 65 watt charger will be fine for this model.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Sorry for making this not clear enough:

The macbook can not charge its battery.
It also can not run AC powered by the MacSafe charger.
It also can not run AC powered by the MacSafe charger with the battery removed.

It runs fine with its battery charged externally in another macbook.

The light on the MacSafe adapter constantly shows a green light.

My Conclusions: It cant draw power from the MacSafe charger at all, the green light is erratic.
It can only draw power from its battery if it is externally charged.
So power AFTER the MacSafe board can´t reach the referring circuits.

The Macsafe charger is properly tested and in perfectly working condition.
The battery also is tested properly.

The other clues I´m just repeating from my first post, to make the list complete:
System Profiler says (translating):
MacSafe attached: yes
Battery charging: no

Did already:
Switch MacSafe adapter with same builds.
Clean Macsafe connector contacts. (Pins seem ok)
Clean internal battery connector.
Replace MacSafe board. (original part).
Reset all there is to reset.

Thanks for your knowledge !
Greetings !

Go to Apple. Seems like the logic board is the problem. Remember, Macs have an extra circuitry in their logic boards for battery charging management.

Hi,thanks for your reply.

- was hoping for some hints to try a repair myself, as I have some amateur experience in that field.

You think the "Extra circuitry" IN the LB is broken.
Is that part replaceable ?

greetings s

Same happened to me. Did you ever resolve this?
