I've recently come across a problem where my MacBook won't recognize the USB mic/headset I use. By not recognizing, I mean its just not showing up as an external mic option in system preferences > sound, and so I can't use it. The headset (Turtle Beaches X12) works, the mic is fine and the audio is working as well. The Macbook was able to recognize it before but its suddenly stopped.

I'm not sure when exactly it stopped picking it up since it automatically switched to built-in mic (and also because the mic on the headset works, i can still hear myself talk/it working). I had no idea it wasn't being used until yesterday. The usb part itself isn't damaged or anything, when I take it out the audio on the headset turns off since it gets its power from the laptop through the USB.

Was there a recent software update that could've made the headset mic no longer compatible? or is there something im missing/doing wrong?

MacBook mid 2011 model, 10.6.8

Any help would be appreciated :)

I have the exact same headset and problem.

I have an iMac and MBP and it stopped working on both. I suspect it must be software related.

Have you found a working solution to this?
