So I was looking at a 2016 m5 Macbook on Amazon and found one in rose gold for $1275. The description says "NEWEST VERSION", but the specs lower on the page lists the 2015 and 2016 version. I chatted with Amazon, and they told me that they don't even sell the 2016 version and this is the 2015 Macbook. I've seen this deal advertised on another Apple related site, so I thought it was the newest one. However, after chatting with Amazon, I don't really know now.

I am a guy, but I am not opposed to a "pink" Macbook, I would put a protective case on it anyway. If it means saving some money, I would buy it.

Has anyone seen this one? Why would the price be so much cheaper just for the color? I can link it if I need to, I didn't know if it was allowed.

I would absolutely not buy a Macbook on Amazon from a third party unless you've talked with the third party and you're sure they're legit. For example, I've sold mine, and in the description I listed that I was a student, I was upgrading laptops, etc. I invited people to ask questions. Some seller create an account for a singular item, get paid, and delete/remove the account, so if they send you the wrong thing (or no thing at all), you have no real recourse except fighting it out with Amazon.

I would only buy a Macbook from an Apple Store, the Apple Refurb Store, or Best Buy. eBay, Amazon, Craig's List, etc. and you're just asking for trouble.

I bought my rose gold on Amazon for $1205 and it was the 2016. But any rose gold one will be the 2016, 2015s only came in silver, grey, and gold.

amazon is an amazing retailer, and take responsibility for what they sell thru the site. there are authorized resellers (i bought my 2015 i7 macbook pro from powermax.com... no tax, free ship, discounted applecare). frys is good (online at least). ebay? hmmm. and craigslist? but there are other options...

Bestbuy will price match amazon, thats what I did. They are suppose to price match same color but I got away with a space grey for 1200 with that amazon deal.

I just did a search on Amazon for "Macbook" and came up with two sellers: Datavision Computer Video and DigJungle. Nowhere did I find a Macbook for sale by Amazon proper. Amazon may be an amazing retailer, but there's no way in hell I'm sending my hard-earned coin to DigJungle or Datavsion blah blah. I'll happily pay a few more bucks to get a Macbook from a reputable seller that isn't hawking brown-boxed MacBooks out of his garage. Before you click Add to Cart, be sure and pay attention to who is ultimately the seller behind Amazon's fulfillment process. You might regret it if you don't.

datavision is a licensed apple reseller that sells thru amazon; it's not a big deal, a lot of retailers sell thru amazon.

but i think the more interesting thing here is this: amazon's own supply of macbooks has run out (some other retailers as well), which suggests... a refresh is coming (new processors?); so maybe october will be about new macbooks as well as the pros...

just speculation of course.

I've tried this, and Best Buy says it must be Prime and sold by Amazon, not a third party.
[doublepost=1475240552][/doublepost]Thanks. I've decided not to buy the Macbook, but instead wait for the new Pro. I've read that it was slower than my 2015 Air, and I sold it because it didn't meet my expectations. It only had 4gb of RAM, but as my luck would have it, they released the 8gb RAM refresh literally a week after my return period.

Just caught up with this post, when I purchased it through Bestbuy amazon was the seller and shipper at the time so they were able to price match. My guess is amazon sold out of there stock which is why it is only 3rd parties now.
