Help. Do I need a MACBOOK with the dedicated graphics card if I need to use Adobe applications and 3D CAD software. If not which programs would require them.

Not really, CAD software and stuff usually only relies on the CPU. However, CS4 suit now utilizes the GPU to help speed tasks and that is the way technology would be going. It is better to future proof.

One more vote for MBP. Get the refurb 15'' 2.4GHz MBP if you can snag one.
