MacBook or Macbook Pro?

I have around £1,000 to spend on a laptop.

I have a 500gb external hard drive.

Should I go for the £799 MacBook with 4gb of RAM and a larger hard drive, or a £899 MacBook Pro with 4gb of RAM??

This will be my first Mac since the mid 1990's

13" MBP. Upgrade the HD and RAM yourself for less money.

MacBook Pro, indeed, because the polycarbonate encasing is a very poor quality, as many over-a-year owners state.

Definitely go for the MBP if you can afford it.
