Yet with a big corporation you have no recourse whatsoever despite consumer laws in some places actually requiring to return the money after 1-2 failed repair attempts
This is the modern day megacorps. Not to say they can get away with anything but even if they don’t, the punishment just doesn’t make any real difference to them. They are all too Big to fail.

I received the email notices long ago but never filled out anything since faulty keyboard never happened to my stuff.

How did you get paid? Were we supposed to fill out something for a claim? I thought it said it was automatic. I had three top cases replaced for fault keyboards...
I received $395 for being in Group 1. I received my check last Friday. Being that I (and likely you) are in that group, it was said there was nothing I needed to do.

I had two MacBooks with issues and got checks for $125 (one top case replacement) and $395 (3 top case replacements). Regarding the latter, the MacBooks’s warranty expired August 2018 and the third time it was repaired was October 2018. The “deal” I was given at the time was to only pay for the part ($332). Glad to at least get some compensation.
Did the checks arrive separately or did you receive them all in one envelope?

I got 2x $125 checks - not complaining but I think I had 5 top case replacements on my 2016 MBP...
I only got 1 $125 check. I had my top case replaced 3 or 4 times and provided the info for it. Their number is entirely automated, and seems their email isn't being actively read either. I'm grateful to get anything, but when you're told you're getting $395 and get 1/3 of that, it's frustrating.

I will never forget the day the Apple Prick errr Genius went on a bitter rant blaming me for my failing keyboard and refused to fix the MacBook.

Only to then receive a call from Apple corporate asking if they could keep my machine because the hardware team wanted to see it.

The $395 check I received today is priceless to me. lol.

I still have my 2016 15" MBP and the keyboard has actually been fine except for one incident, which was my fault. A drink splashed on the keyboard and some of the sugar in the drink got under a few keys and made them sticky/unreliable. All fixed once I got the battery replaced, since Apple just swapped the top case. It's been faultless since then, and while it's not my favorite keyboard to type on it's far from the worst.

If you still own that Mac, and the butterfly keyboard breaks again. How much would it cost to replace it? Probably significantly more than $125.

They always reach out to potential consumers who were affected, but 9/10 they usually post the information about the claim and the deadline for you to submit your information.

We received our check today for my wife’s 2016 MBP. She had the top case replaced several time. Strangely they only acknowledged the first replacement but I was able to provide receipts for the others. I hadn’t heard anything in forever and didn’t get the email that was mentioned in the article. I was a bit worried that they didn’t process my claim but I guess they did after all. The keyboard had been working fine after the last repair, but we have replaced the computer with a 15” M2 MBA last year.

These are actually pretty substantial checks- I have gotten “class action” checks for other instances where the check was for $4.95, though the lawyers supposedly recovered millions.
