I bought an iBook many moons ago that came with a lot of great music already loaded in iTunes. I thought Apple must have done that on all computers until I later realized CompUSA had sold me a floor model without telling me. But that was the case of a retailer, not Apple. I have no reason not to believe this person. I don't know what he gains from lying.

To all the people saying it's impossible to put arbitrary documents into a new user's folder, open up a terminal window, then
Code:
sudo su
cd /System/Library/User\ Template/YOURLANGUAGE.lproj
ls

Look around in there, it's the template for the home directory of any new user.

Mad rep to jbuk. Anyone here who knows anything about how nix systems work knows it's easily possible. I can think of a million ways to do it without much trouble at all. BTW if the above was the methodology, it should be replicated on each new user. It's even conceivable that it could be set to download to that directory on login. You could even script it to download the contents of any hosted directory out there, containing whatever including an runme.app with a nice apple icon to, you know, make it look legit. Just saying...

Ever hear of disgruntled employees? People do crazy things, especially in the Netherlands ;) Regardless, in order to happen it would have to happen on purpose.

I'm not saying I believe it happened, but saying it's not possible based on browser history, user account setup, so on and so fourth is simply not valid line of thought. You know you can download files with something besides safari right?

OP - Tip for your friend, when weird things come on a freshly ordered system a good thing to do is wipe and install fresh, just to be safe.

This post was a great read. Thanks to all for the entertainment. We should create a forum poll :)

I dont believe the story by the way. Wasn't there a story about an iPhone with photos on it from th factory in China some time ago. They went public and it became quite a story. I would have defintely gone public with it. Apple would have to compensate me for all the stress and anxiety the porn caused me :)

There are lots of threads with strange topics this month. Seems to be an coordinated attack on credibility of Apple.

This piece of FUD is suppose to scare some people because OMG Apple loaded porn on a new computer, please think of the children!

Photos are different than porn from a new account.

iPhones are also different than account based OS X.

Uhm data is data, video, pictures, text, all 1's and 0's.

As for accounts on the iPhone, it's BSD based as well, meaning it's account based just like anything nix. So how exactly is it different?

Are you trying to imply this could never happen? Cause I could see any number of scenarios that it could. Again not saying it did, but it could. If you somehow know for a fact that there are no rogue employees working for apple in the Netherlands, please do share.

Not only do I not believe this-- but if I got MY Macbook back with porn on it-- I would erased and reinstall OS X. Who knows what else could be on there.
