We just purchased a Macbook about a week ago, but are getting ready to return it because of some power issues. I was wanting to see if there is something else on our end that could be causing the problem before we do this though.

- When running on batteries, the computer can no longer be put to sleep and wake up.
- When it is closed or manually put to sleep, the sleep light illuminates, but eventually goes off
- In order to ‘wake’ the computer, you have to remove the battery and reinsert it, then push power button. **The computer screen becomes white for about a minute, then automatically restarts by itself.

- W/o removing the battery, Even holding the power button down doesn’t help the laptop restart or shut down. *

Any help or thoughts would be great! Thanks so much!

Sandy

Well, you could try resetting the PRAM with command+option+P+R. If it's only a week old, though, they should replace it (or accept a return) with no questions asked.
