So I've had my macbook for about 2 years now and this is the first time it's ever acted up is such a way. last night I was trying to get my starcraft 2 fix after work when I go to use my internet and it's super slow. I can't do anything in starcraft so I go to my browser and to my dismay it's loading the simplest webpage was taking forever.
I go to my network utility and do a ping test, I'm getting fluxuations between 300ms and 2000ms, so at this point I can still look at forums and use the google it just takes forever. I looked up a bunch of problem solving techniques, A lot of which were posted on this forum. I tried resetting the modem and router obviously first. I then tried to do a hard reset on my router, then I tried to change the dns to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4 and also 4.4.2.1, 4.4.2.2. It felt like when I changed the dns server to the first set of values that it started to work again albiet not completely up to par with how it used to be. I was still unable to game. I also tried doing a "zap" (i dont remember what it was actually called, I just remember zap was in the name) where you reset it and hold command option RP.and it makes it make the start up ding twice. that allowed me to get on to starcraft for a couple hours before I started to lag out of games.
I started to get discouraged because most forum posts basically said to ether reset your router or change the dns so when it didnt work I was bummed. I thought that the zap would work but it proved to be a temporary solution. as by the time it was time to go to sleep it wasnt working at all.
On to today. I woke up hoping that it might have been an isp issue and that i would turn on my computer and be having intergalactic space battles after breakfest. No such luck.
This morning I was un able to connect to my wifi at all. When I went to connect it would ether just time out while trying to connect or it would connect but have a self assigned IP.
I have listed out all the problems and solutions I've had during this trying time in my life. I might have left something out but I hope that will all this information one of you nice folks would be able to help me because I'm starting to have starcraft withdrawl.
Thanks in advance😉
Edit: I forgot to mention that I am able to connect to my neighbor's wifi(she's cool with it) and while the signal is just legitimately weak it works and that's how I've been accessing the internet
