Hi, I am taking my MB Pro13 late 2018 in to Apple today for numerous issues.

- Screen no longer connects to external display
- screen creeks when lifted up
- body flexes
- occasional screen flashing

Trouble is how do I backup this thing? I have iCloud turned on but when I go to manage backups it only has my iPhone backup in there nothing else.

External hard drive, Time Machine.

Yeah I don't have an external disk. I was under the impression this can be done in iCloud

Not whole machine backups; just user files & folders.
As the poster above suggested, get an external USB drive and run Time Machine on it.

As so often, Apple has you covered with instructions:

https://support.apple.com/mac-backup

Depending on your hard drive usage and your internet connection speed, backing up files to and later restoring them from iCloud could take a long time. Also, you would need an iCloud plan that offers you sufficient storage space.

As already mentioned, I would say the most convenient and fast way is to buy a USB hard drive (capacity ideally at least twice your hard drive capacity, a no brainer given hard drive prices).

Best,
Magnus

I have cancelled the Genius appointment.

Just didn't get a fuzzy feeling about backups so I will get a hard drive as suggested. I will then make another appointment. Thanks for the replies.

Hi, may I just ask how your MB body was flexing and how did a Genius solved it? Because I got a similar thing to my MB Pro 15...when I lift one corner up (just slightly about 1cm) all other stay on the table and the body is flexed. None of units in the store has this issue. This behavior occured after getting the speaker repaired.
