Hello! I was thinking to buy a new MacBook Pro and a new iPad Pro, I want to use the iPad for taking notes, play games, media consumption and study of course. And the MBP for other tasks for university. I need both, because iPad can't use some programs that I need. But I dont know if its redundant have the same size or its prefer to have a iPad 11" and MBP 13", or iPad 12.9" and 16".

If you are set on the 13” or 16” MBP, then I would go for the 11’ iPad Pro for better portability. If you wish to get the 12.9” iPad Pro I would consider the magic keyboard too and have that as your only system.

I like the 12.9" iPad Pro, but I need Windows for some programs and its not enough to have a iPad Pro only.

Not redundant at all. Both devices have their distinct roles, and with Sidecar you effectively get two monitors for macOS.

Yes I think so, but i am afraid because maybe I would use only the iPad except in some cases that I will need macOS. Because screen sizes are so similar.

I hook up my 2015 MacBook Pro to 4K and QHD monitors and the laptop is in clamshell mode. It is nice to hook it up to multiple external displays to use it like a desktop. I also often prefer a laptop over the iPad when watching YouTube or browsing the web as the ad blockers on PCs are a lot better than the ad blockers on the iPad. That is if you even use ad blockers on the iPad.

I had both an iPad Pro 11 and a 13" MacBook Pro but I upgraded my MacBook Pro to the 15" because I needed more memory and more cores for running VM's. I use the iPad for media consumption and studying/reading and watching TV. You can also use the iPad as a second screen with the Mac which comes in handy. I am definitely glad that I have both options.

Personally I would choose the 13" MacBook Pro and the 12.9" iPad Pro so these monitors can be nearly the same size.

This is a great idea. I use sidecar all the time when I'm out and about to get that extra screen real estate.

Far from being redundant... if you have a 12.9" iPad you can use it as a really nice second screen for the MacBook via sidecar. It will fit in the same size (or maybe even same) carrying bag, too.

the 12.9 inch form factor would also be better for drawing/note taking/etc. I regret going 10.5 instead of 12.9 with my iPad Pro a few years back now I have Mac capable of using it as a second display and after doing a lot of note-taking and diagrams with the 10.5.

The biggest thing holding back the iPad Pro for me is the lack of proper external monitor support. Even hardcore iPad Pro guys fall back to their Mac Mini's when doing work at our office.
