Macbook Pro 13'' and Iphone 3GS

Im new to all this mac-stuff.

Is it possible to use the Iphone 3GS as a modem for the Macbook Pro 13'' and safe me from buying a 3G USB modem? If yes, how?

no you dont,

under settings/network under the phone you can use the phone as a modem to tether it with bluetooth or wifi to your notebook,

mywi is crappy, dont bother with it.
