MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) HDD Cable

It appears that the HDD cable on my MBP is bad.

I went to www.ifixit.com to get a new one, but they are out and it sounds like they might not get any more.

What should I do?

1.) Buy a used one from ifixit.com?

2.) Buy one off of eBay that may not be from Apple like this...

You can buy 'New without bracket' from iFixit as they have them in stock and you should be able to salvage the bracket from your old cable if you are careful. Otherwise you can buy used with bracket like you mentioned, iFixit mentions that they test their used parts however i'm not sure how thorough their testing is, but they do provide a life warranty if that boosts your confidence. Buying from eBay you are more likely to get a used cable that might have been tested but that is not guaranteed and there is usually no warranty either. Personally I would buy from iFixit but that's up to you.

Have you talked to Apple? I have heard this may be an unspoken extended warranty program.
