We will be purchasing a new Macbook Pro for my daughter who starts college this fall. We have decided on the 13" for portability. My question is, are any of the upgrades worth the $

2.4 to 2.66 processor
4gb to 8gb memory
128gb SSD

She will be majoring in journalism (not photo or video) but will be doing some photo/video editing.

Also, we are waiting for the back-to-school promotion for (hopefully) a free Ipod.

Thanks

The base line with 2.44GHz and 4GB RAM and with the HDD are more than capable of your daughter's needs.

The Back To School promo might start in July or August.

Btw, you can upgrade HDD to an SSD and the RAM yourself, as it is cheaper to do it yourself.

Thanks - planning on applecare. Any recommendations on an external hard drive for backup?
