Woudn't it have been a better experiment if you had left them both with the manufacturers calibration? (And I can't tell by your wording if that's a calibration tool or the calibration itself) There's far to many variables in this experiment to get conclusive results; the calibration needs to be constant. More conclusive results would come from the default calibration because the screens differ.

Unfortunately, manufacturers calibration is awful, especially on the MBP 13" 9C9E : I was really disapointed just after openning the box!

What is the reasoning behind Apple using multiple displays in their 13" MB/MBP's? It wouldn't be that big of a deal if the quality was the same across the board but the fact that all of us pay the same amount and some people get inferior screens is BS.

MBP wins. Colors are much crisper. Brightness doesn't much matter to me. I find myself turning down the brightness a lot anyway so it doesn't strain my eye's

So you're comparing two different calibrations? That can't produce a conclusive test; your experiment was biased from the start.

The colors on my MBP 13 are fantastic (9CBD screen).

Although overall, I don't think the screen is as bright as other models including aluminum unibody macbook 13 from fall 2008.

Overall, the screen is bright and crisp, just not quite as bright as others. Looks like your comparison to the MBA was about what I was thinking in terms of brightness.

The MB looks very vivid, I like it. But, if that is full brightness I am very disappointed. The MBA looks "washed out" but the brightness looks nice. It could just be the glass over the screen on the MB that makes it look good. Anybody have a comparison of the 15"?

Sorry, maybe my explainations weren't very good.

In fact, the calibration is the same for the 2 screens: Spyder2Express (6500K, gamma 2.2, native white point), in the exact same conditions... (same room ambiante light, etc.).

So, both must have the same rendition, except for the things that a calibration can't fix.

Hope you get the idea: sorry, my english is not that good. :(

Yes, the brightness is "better" on the MacBook Air.

There are also some serieous differences in the "brightness adjustment levels" : the overall delta seems wider on the Air (from less brightness, to more brightness) than on the MBP.

But, the medium level (8 or 50 %) is greater on the MBP! :D

I just picked up a 13 inch macbook pro for my wife, 9C9E screen and it does the color and brightness does not seem as good as my 17. I found this topic which seems on point. Anyone else have info re the 9C9E. I am considering getting her an air.
