Hi,

I would like to buy a new Apple Macbook pro 13” 2017 laptop without touchbar, but i don’t know that which color (grey, silver) is scratch less or look less?

Can you help me?

Thanks

I had a 2015 13 inch which was silver and a 2017 15 inch in space gray. Both have not scratched.

Silver shows fewer scratches simply because it is closer to the color of the bare aluminum...there is more contrast with the gray and so scratches/dings are more visible and appear worse. Both finishes are quite durable when cared for.

Either will do. At the end of the day, its about what you want do with it, which is get work done, make money to support yourself and take a vacation every now and then. No one in Start Bucks or the Park will care if you have a Space gray or Silver with a scratch and neither should you.

Neither scratches if you take care of it. I prefer space grey.

Silver-it's a classic! But honestly it's up to whatever you prefer. If you're worried about scratches just get a hard shell. I've had my MBP for over five years, taken good care of it and rocking a incase shell, and i'm happy to say there are zero scratches! I would be more worried about dents, i know you'll say "oh but i'd never drop my Macbook!" but accidents happen. Don't know about the new models but i did accumulate some dents in the corners over the years, even with the hardshell.

Personally i think space gray is an abomination- i really dislike it on the MBP. But i know like four people who got the space gray over silver cause they claimed it was cheaper... i think that's bull but the fact they bought it from an Apple Reseller i'd believe anything at this point.

I went for Space Gray because, like my other devices, I like to get them as dark as possible so there are no distractions\so it’s framed nicer. iphone too.

Space Grey is great for iPads and phones, but not for Macs. Gotta admit to being paranoid about scratching my (silver) MBP. I don't wear rings, but I always take my wristwatch off so the strap buckle doesn't scrape the palmrest. It would hurt me to see my favourite computer wounded.

I've never scratched or dinged a laptop in my life. And it's not like I baby them. I'm always wary of seeing listings for sale here and elsewhere that have pics of a battle-worn computer. What in the world are people doing to their machines?!

You don't want to know the answers to that.

I guess it depends on your usage case. Some dents in my MacBook are memories of great parties of my youth, some scratches are from desert sand or mountain cliffs around the world. Most of them are probably because it is scratched anyway so I don’t care anymore.

I actually can’t believe it is possible to have no scratch or dent in a MacBook if it is used as a portable device. For me it wouldn’t be possible. (It may just be me who is unable to not-scratch a device)

Edit: I would go with the dark one. But I would say it should be personal preference :)

Simple. If you a first time buyer of MacBook, then buy silver. Anyone buy space grey because they already owned old silver MacBook in the past.

After 1 year with space grey im regretting not getting the silver. Wish I could switch now :D

I just think the silver looks better. But when I bought it space grey was new and exciting.

The 2016 I had (sold) was space grey and the 2017 I just bought is silver. Overall I think I prefer the silver.

I own an older MBPr 13" Late 2013, which only came in silver. I do have some dents on it, especially around the lower case. I cannot really explain why, but these small dents have a darker colour to them than the silver exterior! Maybe they would pop up less, if the laptop was Space Grey.

In the market for a new macbook.
I use dark mode and a lot of pro apps have a grey interface. Both colors look great in the brightly lit apple store though.

Curious how everyone likes their space gray and silver macbook now.
