Hello fellow Mac masters,

I'm planning to buy a MBP 13".But I was just wondering,is it possible for the MBP 13" to have the core i7 processor? Your answers are much appreciated😉

Anything is eventually possible.

But at this very moment, no. No 13" MacBook Pros come with an iCore processor. Only Core2Duo. With that being said, an update could be coming up in the new year. So might be worth waiting.

In future, yes though it's kinda unlikely because 13" is the low-end laptop from Apple and i7 is high-end CPU and thus it will more likely be found from 15" (like now).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

It's not available right now. Maybe in the next update.

I don't think i7 will be in next update either for the 13"
The laptops are tiny as it is. Not enough space to dissipate all that heat.

i dont think i7 will do good to the 13"'s battery life, so that's going to be SJ's argument 🙁

The MBP 13 will need an overhaul to fit three chips due to space constraints, something has to give, might be the Superdrive.

If the chip were Arrandale it would have to be an i7 to fit the 25w TDP (and be faster than 1.33GHz...)

Too expensive. 25W chips are all more than 300$. Apple would likely charge nearly the same price as 15" MBP with i7 costs as discrete GPU adds extra cost too.

not gonna happen for next refresh. Also, 13" MBP is aimed toward good battery life. Unless they do low voltage i7 and they boost the battery size, battery life will be compromised.

We all know that since apple already claims 10 hr battery life, we probably won't see them announce that their BRAND NEW 2011 MBP gets less than last years model.

In the next iteration of Macbook Pro's, would it be possible to say that the Macbook Pro 13" will get the i5 processor?

I would like to see an i5 on the new MBP while maintaining 10 hr battery life as a BTO option. Would do a real good job maintaining in competition with the HP envy 14 and other "premium" laptops.

I'm waiting for the 13" i7 to come out. My C2D 15 MBP is showing it's age, but I would like a small laptop as this one is too heavy.

I really want an i5 or i7 + bigger battery in exchange for the superdrive 🙂 Its a waste of space that takes a big chunk out of the 13" MBP. Apple should at least have an option to have the superdrive or not...

I agree. I have no need for a superdrive. (Notice I said I)

At the moment, I think the closest option is to buy a Ultra-Portable Windows box, I believe there are numerous manufacturers who've incorportated an Intel i7 in it's tiny footprint mobile systems.

Top of the pile is the Sony VAIO Z with a eye popping price tag of £1,949!!! 😱 but has an awesome carbon fibre housing, Core i7 2.66Ghz CPU, 6Gb RAM, internal Blu-ray writer, SSD RAID 0 array and/or additional HD!! All options extras mind... or you could cross your fingers and wait. 😉

Seems like Apple is working on a New MacBook Pro for April '11 release.

Tough to say if the 13" will have the i7 or not though.
