MacBook Pro 14" (2021) Base Model

Debating the 14" and 16" base models myself and not sure which model to go with.

I'm coming from a 2016 (15 inch) 2.7 GHz Quad Core Intel i7 with 16GB of RAM. I predominantly use 2 external monitors to do a lot of Excel, Tableau, and am beginning to dabble in Python. I don't currently use my Mac alone to do work (ie on the couch, bed, etc). However, I am beginning my PhD so this could change.

My department is purchasing this, so it is likely a 5 year purchase. So all help is appreciated!

FWIW ... I plan on upgrading to 1TB of storage.

Based on what you wrote, 14” probably. I use a 16”, but I often work in graphical apps directly on the built-in screen.
