I took delivery of a 14" MacBook Pro (base spec) and I've been installing programs onto it. Nothing taxing. The laptop has got quite warm which I find strange because my 13" MBP M1 barely ever got hot. Then this evening I got a strange beep every few seconds which doesn't go away if I turn the system volume down. I'm not sure what this is? Any ideas?

I got a base 14” and it has not heated up at all, even during 5 consecutive cinebench runs, and no beeping. I still haven’t even heard the fans

How hot is it? Can you hear the fans?

Return it. It should not be doing any of these things. I received mine Tuesday at 12pm and installed several applications along with using it nonstop since. The fan has yet to kick on and I've edited 4k .raw files in PhotoShop.

This is definitely not normal. Unless I am mistaken, the beeping probably indicates a hardware problem.

Don't waste your time too long on this forum and contact Apple about this issue. Since you are within the return window consider sending it back or replacing it.

It's definitely more heat comparing to my m1 air. Last night I tried leaving both laptops on my bed (to block vents) and have twitch stream playing for 30 minutes, the air still feels like room temperature, while the pro got quite hot actually (I think maybe 50c-60c)

Not normal! Return it something is wrong. Never heard fans come on yet on new mbp while you do feel warm ness it’s not hot like the intel prior

Thanks for the replies, I think I will return it. I'm actually considering just getting a refund. Its a super nice device but the 13" M1 isn't that far behind it. Most of the time I use it connected to an external monitor so the screen advantage isn't really worth the upgrade for me.
