So i noticed that (maybe after the latest Monterey upgrade - running 12.4 (21F79)) that my Macbook Pro will not charge (using the original Apple 96W adapter that came with the Macbook) and USB-C cable after my laptop went to sleep. I can then try many different adapters / cables that otherwise work fine but it will not work. It will also show so in System Report (Power -> AC Charger Information -> Connected No).

Tried turning on/off optimized battery charging but no help. The only thing that really works is restarting / power cycle the Macbook.

Anyone else have this issue? Mac in question is 14 with Pro 10/16/16 and 16GB Ram.

Had a closer look - doesn't always happen after Sleep. Will investigate further and call Apple if it doesn't improve with the next Monterey.

I've noticed this happening since updating to macOS 12.4. I've tried plugging in the charging cable to all the USB ports. Haven't tried magsafe tho. Restarting does enable charging again...

Someone else reported this recently, try looking around for the post.

Same here after updating to 12.4 on my MBP 14". Apple software is garbage these days and I imagine MacOS 13 will be even worse as they add even more features without fixing bugs. How could such a crucial bug make it through all the betas?

I would suggest you do. Just if anything, to check it's not a hardware fault.
Eh, no rush to do so right now. My real issue is with battery drain during sleep…but maybe that’s normal for the Apple Silicon Macs? I can sleep my Intel machines for a month without issue, but the 14” battery doesn’t even last a week in sleep.

I also started to have some troubles with USB-C charging every couple of days, restart helped everytime so far

Exact same problem here with my MBP 14 inch, tried with USB-C charger and Magsafe. Both don't work anymore. I can confirm the USB-C charger works flawlessly with my MBP 16 (intel).

Brand new one I bought just had this happen, Magsafe and USB-C didn't work although the indicator was lit. I turned it off and reset it and then it worked again but it gave me a scare.

It's not just MagSafe. Since upgrading to 12.4, intermittently my 16" 2021 MacBook Pro won't charge from any source, any charger, any cable, any port, unless it's restarted. This is a deal breaker for me, because if I am in the middle of a Zoom I cannot simply restart the computer. Unless this is fixed by Apple ASAP it will be going back.
