For people who have a Macbook 14 "in silver. Do you think that the color silver is too contrasting and prevents you from concentrating on the display? In the apple store, the light is very strong and I do not know whether the color contrasts just because of that.

No way. It is absolutely fine. Both the silver and the grey models are fine. Practically all models in the MacBook line have been silver for a long time now, and they were never distracting because of that. The mere fact that Apple recently introduced grey models does not suddenly turn silver into something too contrasting or distracting.

Apple's MacBooks have always been silver until the 2016 MacBook Pro came along. My Mid 2014 MBP 13" is silver and it's fine. I stick with silver to match with all my Apple gear especially since every year, "Space Gray" comes in a different variant... 50 shades of space gray. :(

Yes. As someone who had several stints as remote working software consultant since 2012... meaning working in all sorts of locations, getting a space gray machine in 2016 was a game changer for me, esp when working outside or in areas w/ lots of window.

As much as I love the look of silver for this gen, can't go back due to eye strain issues.

Here's a better question for you: once the space grey coating wears off, will you find it distracting now that your MacBook has blotches of silver and space grey?

I owned a space grey MacBook (2016) for about a year, then the palm rest area got... quite silver, and that was when I knew space grey wouldn't last. If it was going to become silver anyway, might as well go with silver to begin with.

Also, the silver MacBook is not any different from any past silver MacBooks, and I don't think anyone ever found the silver MacBooks to be "distracting" for... decades.

Have a 14 inch Silver MBP now. Went from a 2015 and its still a classic choice. Considered the space grey for a while and thought id like it until I saw family members who had it for years and the way it aged. It's not to say the space grey is anything horrifying, but I typically like a clean and minimal look and it seems the silver ages much better. aside from space grey showing every spec of dust imaginable.

I've got my Mid 2014 13" MBP now and a 14" M1 Max silver coming late January. My AirPods Max are silver (wish I could swap the headband for the Space Gray band though), 2012 Mac Pro is silver, original iPhone is silver. iPhone 6s Plus is space gray, but that's because I cared about the color of the front glass. I wish I could have a silver back and black front like the original iPhone was. Since the phone is in a case, one doesn't really notice the space gray anyways.

My Macbook 16 ”max Space gray was returned due to an error in the display.

Since the macbooks are still unavailable, they offered me a 16 ”hard configuration, but in Silver.

How do you feel with Silver at 16 ”?

I'm afraid that the large silver area at 16 "will be even more disturbing, even though I like the silver color.

Space gray looked at me like a dark windows laptop.

Yeah silver is so bad, I can not get any work done on my silver MacBook because it is so disturbing every time I open it...???
sorry, it's a little awkward. Normally I ask, when coloring it is important or edit the photo, it is no coincidence that the large XDR display or Imac has black edges. If it was a fashion macbook, I'd take the gold, too.

I mean you can just use skins like dbrand and it's prob fine. Just get the matte black or something like that it should be fine

In the store, I found the silver too silver. The black keyboard looked odd with the silver. I thought it would distract me so I went with space gray again even thought my previous gray coating came off after I stuck very strong tape to it to rest palms on. Knowing this I still went with gray and AppleCare. I never has any space gray come off due to palm sweat but I dont sweat really. It maybe a minor issue for sweaty people. I tend to wash my hands more than the average guy too.

I don't find the silver distracting at all on my 14" Pro. I have always been a fan of space gray since the 2016 era MacBooks, but I went silver this time since the design language of the new Pros is sort of a throwback to the earlier 2000's MacBooks. If that makes sense... Anyway, I very much like the silver color of my new machine and I don't find it distracts from the awesome display at all.

You seem to be on to something. I got a 16" silver and I have not been able to work as productively as I might have liked.

I'm surprised by how much the whole space grey v silver issue has been on my mind since buying a 14 in space grey a few weeks ago.

I usually go with SG, so I didn't think much about it (and after several MBPs in space grey, I've not had any chipping or fading). But since purchasing the 14, I keep seeing silver models out and about or on YouTube and thinking damn that looks good!

I think the earlier poster, Patcel, put their finger on it: it may have something to do with the design being a throwback to the earlier Titanium G4 design, which was a combo of silver and white.

Either way, it's harder than ever to decide on color. I love my 14 in space grey. But now I'm constantly second guessing my choice.

Not distracting whatsoever. I’m glad I went with Silver having had space gray on my previous 2 macbook pros

I'm not the one distracted by the minimal silver color when the mbp is open lol. Again, you really don't want to work if that is bothering you. Nice try though.
And I said I wanted to work on it? It's my thing I want to do on it even if I just have to look at the beautiful xdr display and don't want to be disturbed. You needless to draw conclusions about your fabricated ideas.
