MacBook pro 15" updates?

For tax reasons I am being paid in the form of a laptop within the month, as an apple fan and musician I've decided to purchase a 2.66 ghz macbook pro. From buyers guides many suggest waiting to buy, but is this due to snow leopard coming soon or actual hardware updates that would genuinely change the MacBook pro drasticaly? Some help would be really appreciated here, I maybe able to stall my boss getting me it...
