Hi, sometimes the ports especially the one near the LCD on the left do not work. For example, I plugged in the Apple charging cable but it was not charged. I plugged in an external SSD and TimeMachine said I had no backup drive. When I checked the desktop, I found that the SSD was not mounted. I had to unplugged and plugged the draive to the next port for it to work. Do other users of this machine has this problem? What could have gone wrong?

Literally just had this happen on my 2019 16”. It started last week and was sporadic with no rhyme or reason and then on Thursday was unable to charge at all and lost all connectivity on all 4 usb c ports. Brought it to Apple that night and they had to send out for repairs. The tech said it was more than likely the logic board. Already received notification that it’s been repaired and I should have back by Monday.

I have been having such sporadic issue for I guess about 6 months or longer. Didn't bring it to Apple due to the pandemic. I wonder if this is just individual cases or more users have such issue.

Do you have AppleCare? if you do I would bring it in and get it fixed. You should not have to live with that kind of an issue on such an expensive laptop.

Yes. Do they disinfect your computer? We don't know who will be touching our computers during the repairing.

I have no idea if they do. I would just wipe it down once its comes back from the repair facility.
