I have been hanging onto my 15" 2015 MBP waiting for AS MacBook Pros to drop. And this year... they finally support dual displays. It was time to buy! The chonky looks don't bother me. However, one thing I did notice is... the new Macbook Pro is difficult (for me) to pick up. The weight isn't an issue, though it could be a factor. Let me explain...
My old 2015 and its tapered sides made it easy to scoop off a desk. I could get my finger tips just under the edge and scoop it up with one hand. Ever try to pick a penny (or any coin with smooth sides) off a smooth tile floor? You have to claw at it a few times to get under the edge and pick it up... Well, the new 2021 AS MBP is similar. I can't just scoop it off the table like I could with my 2015 MBP. The added weight could play a small factor in this, but really, it's just hard to get under it with my finger tips (everyone has different sized fingers / nails so maybe this is no problem for you.)
Maybe this will improve once I find a shell for the new MBP. I haven't used a MacBook case-less in over a decade.
I should add, this really isn't a problem when it is on a couch or other deformable surface.
This could actually be a big step backwards in accessible design for some people.
