I'm unable to install windows using bootcamp because every time I tries to download the windows support software, it tells me "Can’t install the software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server." Is this because Apple hasn't release the required drivers for the new MacBook Pro 16 yet? Very weird. Never encountered this before.

Yes, very likely Apple hasn't updated it yet for this new model. Give it a few days, I am sure they will update it soon.

Interesting. I haven't gotten my hands on a new model of MacBook this quick before so that's good to know. Is it possible to install Windows without Bootcamp? I know it worked with older Macs but not sure if it would work the newer ones with newer hardware and the T2 security chip that could cause trouble.

You're only other option would be a VM I think. I would bet bootcamp will be updated by next week sometime, but just a guess.

I asked Apple Support about this earlier today and of course they blamed my wifi and everything else. They refused comment on any "future releases".

That's because Apple doesn't tell customers support anything, regarding future updates. its more likely you'll learn more here then from the people who answer the phones for Apple

Completely off topic but related - I have a Dell D6000 USB-C dock and none of my 2 external monitors are being displayed.

I am sure this must be related to the DisplayLink driver that is needed to display the external monitors. It was working fine on my 2018 13-inch MacBook Pro, however.

Just a heads up!

Yeah I get that. Refused comment was not the right phrase. They just said they couldn't speculate on future releases and that "While multiple customers may be reporting the same thing, there are different possibilities for what may have caused this particular issue." and then started into the usual support questions. I know it is probably drivers related but seems like they should have had this ready before launch.

Another thing to keep in mind, if and when Apple does provide support, it might not be for the latest commercial release of Windows 10. So, instead of choosing to installing Windows 10 1909, try installing the previous version 1903 first. You might need to search the web to get the ISO.

Windows on a Mac is blasphemy! I stopped dual/triple booting more than a decade ago using VirtualBox. Once I bought a QNAP NAS that supports virtualization/containers about 2 years ago, I stopped using VirtualBox and just run VMs from a NAS.

Same. Not having boot camp sucks. I do use parallels and got win10 installed temporarily like that. I may end up just using parallels only

Can't you still install Windows the old fashion way, by partitioning yourself and booting from a bootable Windows install drive, or does the T2 chip prevent that now? I would guess the default drivers built in to Windows would work well enough, even if not 100% optimized. You might have some trouble with the trackpad and video drivers though, which might work, but would probably be running in a sort of basic mode and missing a lot of functionality that the official bootcamp drivers would provide. But you could always download and install the bootcamp drivers when they become available if you just want to get Windows running now.

According to the Apple Communities thread, it looks like Apple just updated/fixed this issue an hour or two ago... can anyone confirm?

Anyone have success with an eGPU under Boot Camp? My understanding is you need 1903 18362.295 or below. So far I have not been successful in getting my RX580 in a Razer Core X working in Windows at all. Works great in macOS though!

Hi, I managed to install Windows 10 but the trackpad does not work well. For example, I click on a window and dragged it. However, most of the time the window did not move. Even it did, it was only moving occasionally. Anybody knows how to fix this?

BTW, I cannot find Bootcamp program. I used to see it when I clicked at the windows icon on the bottom left under Windows 7. I went to Program folder and double clicked on it. However, nothing happened.

I had an issue installing Windows 10 the first time around. I deleted the partition and tried again using the newest ISO available from MSFT. The second time worked like a charm.
