The computer bought by a friend, 16-inch M1 MAX 32G 1T, was sent from China to Cambodia by express, and the express is still on the way. Suddenly found that the second-hand sales platform is selling this computer. The serial number and invoice displayed by the seller are the same as the Apple store at that time. The invoice information and serial number are the same, but there is no outer packaging box, which means that after the thief took out the computer, the box was still sent overseas. When my friend receives the computer next week, he will find it an empty box.
I was shocked when I heard about this today. I didn't expect my friend to face such a complicated situation. I hope that after calling the police, the police will provide clues based on the second-hand platform sellers to find out which link is wrong, and remind everyone to pay attention. After all, such an expensive computer is an empty box after a few months.
I will update the situation of the stolen computer.

Terrible news. When someone buys a device the serial number should be immediately assigned to them so that they can remotely disable the device and make it useless if it gets stolen in transit. Or Apple should be able to do that.

The serial number already exists, because it is brand new and unopened, it has not been used by my friend, and I have not logged in the apple id on the computer, so I cannot find and lock this machine. The unopened computer has no security protection, and anyone can It can be used normally, I think this is where the transaction process is risky, so I choose to buy it in the apple online store.

Your friend should call APPLE immediately and document the situation (with serial number, etc.).

I've actually called Apple to ask how this situation is handled and what they can do to assist. Apple told me that they can't do anything about it, and they can't lock the machine or locate it. They can only investigate this matter by the police. Fortunately, knowing that the computer appeared on the second-hand trading platform, the police can trace the source of the seller's computer.
