Blown Speaker - Replace or Return?

I recently got a 16" MacBook Pro for Christmas, and I've loved everything about the device. In the past day, however, I've noticed that the left subwoofer had blown out. The speakers are very important to me, so I've got 2 choices: return this device and re-purchase it (will take less time and less money), or take it in for repair (can take up to 3 weeks for the 16” and will probably cost $100). Which is my best option? Will they check to see if the device is working before the return goes through?

P.S: We used Apple Giveback credits for this purchase. Will they refund me full on the card I used or refund the gift cards as well?

Why would you think it would cost YOU $100?
If the subwoofer failed in normal use, that would be covered under warranty.
(Just choose not the share that you left the volume all the way up on those electro-funk grooves )

I’ve heard of an $100 deductible, but looking more into it, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Cheers!

(I’ll also be sure to leave out that part)

Just curious, how do you know it's blown out? Testing by changing the left / right balance?

That's a bummer, I would take it back to Apple immediately. Should be covered under the year warranty.

the deductible amounts are for accidental damage. You didn't damage it, this is covered under warranty so you don't pay anything.

Unfortunately I'm experiencing the same exact issue. Not sure how this was resolved by the OP but I really do need some guidance here :/

OP here! Sadly, I ruled out that it was hardware issue. Since I was still within the return date, I returned it and bought another one on the same day. Unfortunately, I don't know if there are any great options if you are out of the return date other than a repair. Hopefully, you have AppleCare or the Apple Store will write it off as "incidental damage," something that they have gracefully done for me many times.

Best of luck!

Thank you so much! Yeah I just got it a month ago and I have AppleCare. Hopefully all goes well.

Thanks again :)
