Hi,
I have a problem with my optical drive where it does not burn dvd's but burns cd's fine.
Also is there a cheaper alternative if I have to replace the drive.

How old is your MBP?

Cheaper option is to buy a cheap external DVD burner, instead of the expensive internal Superdrive.
