Hi guys,

It's been a week since my macbook pro randomly shuts down. I've been browsing the internet to find a solution, tried so many different things but none of them work.

Times when it shuts down: pre-boot, pre-chime, post-chime, desktop. It's totally random really.
A weird one is, if I disconnect the battery from the MBP, and turn it on using the magsafe only it works perfectly fine ( well performance drops to 50% but it doesn't shut down)
When magsafe and battery both connected, still shuts down.
Battery alone connected, shuts down.

What i've tried so far:
- reset SMC/PRAM
- bought a new battery, 0 cycles
- removed & cleaned the components
- re-applied thermal paste

None of them worked.

LE: battery is charging, the old battery is with around 350 cycles, the new battery is sitting on 0 cycles, both of them on 100% charge. Coconut battery says the old battery is 87% healthy.
Help?

That might be the sign of a defective DC input board. They're not expensive and fairly easy to swap out. Check on eBay for one. It may also be something else so you might want to get other opinions before proceeding with a new DC input board.

Possibly, or the dGPU is failing causing the machine to randomly crash, which is a very common issue with 15” and 17” 2011’s... although that doesn’t explain why it works fine with magsafe only...
