MacBook Pro 2007 crashes unless airport is turned off

Hello I have a query about a MacBook Pro from 2007 using leopard, when I turn it on it loads up and I can log in but when i click on a program it freezes so I then boot into safe boot and because the network isn’t on it works fine so I then restart it and turn the network off as quickly as possible it works fine do you have any suggestions?
 
Does it have an ethernet port?
If so... what happens if you plug in and use ethernet instead of wifi?
 
If it will run OS 10.6 (snow leopard), you might try upgrading to that...
 
Have you ran first aid and reset the airport and even the pram?
what program is crashing the MBPro?
Fishrrman is correct in installing snow leopard, that OSX maybe apples best.

I’ve tried resetting the pram, how would I reset the airport
 
Agree with MtLoin above.
El Cap was one of the best Mac OS releases.
I still use it on my 2015 Macbook Pro...
 
I have now been experiencing problems in system preferences where sometimes preference pans won’t open
