MacBook pro 2008 All aplications won't open

My 2008 Macbook pro (so the silver and black but with a removable battery)
is not able to open any applications I have resarted my computer several times but it hasn't worked.

Reboot to your system restore disks, select Utilities -> Disk Utility, select your system partition in the list on the left side of the window, and click Repair Permissions / Repair Volume.
