Macbook Pro 2008 Screen Flicker Driving me mad... please help!

Hi all,

Bought my macbook on ebay a few months ago and it said in the listing there was a 'known hardware fault'. Has been working fine but every now and then I get a screen flicker exactly the same as this...

You probably have a failed nVidia 8600GT, if the MBP is 4 years old or less, apple should replace the entire logic board for free, these are known to be defective and there is a service bulletin out for them.

Could be the LCD panel showing its age, could be a connector coming loose. You could try the iFixit site but unless you're handy with such stuff you may do more damage than good.
