Hello everyone, basically I’ve got a 2013 MBP retina 15 inch and the buetooth doesn’t work. Wifi works fine. I’ve tried to replace the Bluetooth/wifi card and it doesn’t work. I brought it to a shop and they said because there are Bluetooth antennas in my display that it could need a new display? Or a new logic board. I want to fix this without getting a new one of those. It is not software related. Does anyone have any ideas or heard of a problem in the display causing Bluetooth to not work?

thanks for reading

Was the unit ever dropped or exposed to liquids?

Yes, the WiFi and Bluetooth antennae run along the edges of the display and it's almost impossible to replace the antenna wires without damaging the display.

Have you inspected the antenna wires leading from the card to the bottom of the display for potential damage?

The cheapest and simplest solution may be to buy a tiny Bluetooth USB dongle.

thank you for the reply! It has not been dropped or exposed to liquids. (It has had some iffy Best Buy repairs, including trackpad and display way back when it was under warranty)

so if wifi is working fine would it make sence that it would be the problem? I have not inspected for damage but I will and post back here when I do. I have considered the bluetooth dongle and have bought one but it was pretty big (compared to like a Logitech ehats super slim and bairly noticeable) and I really dont like that option because I loose it so easily and it take up a port but I guess that’s what I’ll do if I can’t get this up and going.

Is the Bluetooth card detected by the OS?

It's detects it and nothing can connect?
It says "bluetooth not available" when you click the bluetooth icon. I have tried all the "common fixes" for this problem.

intresting
That looks like a logic board issue.

If the antenna was loose or damaged, the Bluetooth and WiFi range would be low but available.
well I may go for the bluetooth usb thing. if you know of any good ones (that are as small as possible) please let me know
