Hello, whether absolutely any external DVD will suit or only Apple Magic Drive is needed?
2) Can I easily install Windows on an external SSD on Macbook?
3) Can external SSD be made from Samsung EVO using the "Transcend StoreJet 25CK3" for example? Will it cause any compatibility issues in the future?

Microsoft makes it rather difficult for one to install windows on an external drive. They do have a special "Windows To Go" feature for this purpose, but I've found creating such drivers to be cumbersome and the resulting install to be unreliable.

Its just a drive enclosure... if it meets the specs, I don't see what could be a problem.

You don't need the Apple SuperDrive. In fact, it's a bad buy.
Any 3rd-party USB external DVD drive should work.
I bought one with BluRay capabilities, as well.

If you plan to "archive files" to DVD/Bluray for long-term storage, I suggest you get a drive with M-DISC capabilities, as well. The discs are supposed to last for hundreds of years!

Thx for the answers. In fact, I need external DVD drive just for playing a single protected DVD. I worry more about Windows installations. Is it possible to avoid the "Windows to go"? Is it changing one set of problems to another?
