I have MacBook Pro 2015 I have hardly used and all I have done is some photo editing with Lightroom
Is it still adequate to continue phot editing. Loathed to purchase a new model just for photos I use iPad Pro for everything
Thank you

Is it a base model (i5, 8 GB RAM, etc.)? Then, doing photo editing work on that is a bold task! Consider upgrading!

I use my 2015 15" MBP for light photo editing in Photos plus email & web etc These are still very capable machines with a useful selection of ports (USB, Thunderbolt, SD card etc). Unfortunately for my use I simply cannot justify an upgrade to Apple Silicon.☹️

Get a pencil and use the iPad Pro for photo editing - its performance is probably faster.

Source: I own and used a 13" MBP 2015 and an iPad Pro 10.5, and the 10.5 felt snappier doing most things. Anything newer than that in iPad land will be quick enough for photo editing vs. the 2015 MacBook Pro unless its a higher end 15" model?

It is absolutely adequate for photo editing, especially if you don't even do so frequently.

A computer is a tool, a fact a lot of people here seem to ignore and just encourages everyone to go for the latest and greatest regardless of actually needs.

A tool HAS to WORK FOR YOU. If your job requires you to have a better tool then upgrade to a better tool.

IMHO, if you are not making $$ with your photography and your 2015 MBP machine can accomplish your (seemingly very infrequent) photography needs, albeit a little slower, upgrading is just a want not a need, and only you can (or can not) justify the additional cost relative to what you hope to get back in return.

Thank you that advice is very helpful

I’m not sure why you’re asking, just give it a go and see how you get on. There are free editors, you don’t need to sink money into it.
