Hi everyone, is anyone else experiencing this issue:

When booting up the new 15" MacBook Pro 2016, my profile picture is blank and no option is given to use TouchID to logon. Entering my password works fine.

I setup Touch ID without a problem when I first booted the computer. I feel like I'm missing something obvious here. Any suggestions?
 
Well on iPhones, you have to enter the passcode the first time you boot up and after that you can use the TouchID to gain access, so I assume its the same if power-cycling the laptop (rather than sleeping it). May be wrong though

Ahhh, you're absolutely right. I knew it was something obvious. I just tested and TouchID works great when coming out of sleep mode.

Any idea why the profile picture would be blank though? I feel like that should still show up, even after reboot. The profile picture shows up fine when coming out of sleep mode.

Seems to happen on my new 13" as well. I think it's a Sierra bug.

I know we're getting off topic here, but when you were setting up your 13", did it force you to use lowercase letters for your short name (account name)? I know the account name it suggests (based on your full name) is all lowercase, but with past Macs I've always been able to change this. Not this time - if I capitalized the first letter, it would just change it back to lowercase automatically.

Just wondering if it's another bug...

That's by design, but there's a way to change it after the fact. Google can find instructions. And I think OSX always used lowercase for the short username.
 
I've deleted and re-added the finger print multiple times.

Reset NVRAM and issues persisted even with just using Touch ID from waking computer up from sleep.

Every time it asked me for my password and would not function.
 
13" MBP owner here. Touch ID will work just fine for me for some amount of time after a system restart - a day, two, three, whatever. Then, for no reason I can yet determine, it just stops working. Trying to authenticate with touch (after sleep) gives me the "shaking of the head" indication that it's failed.

Using my password works.

Sometimes the whole screen is blank and the system appears to be unresponsive; but I know it's on, because the Touch Bar is lit up. Hitting Cmd+Opt+Esc can get me a login prompt in this instance.

Just posting here to add a +1 to the thread. I'll try to dig in to this and see if I can figure out what's going on. Will update here if I find anything.

Definitely odd.

If you have a sleep/wake issue and you power off and on your MBP your touch ID will be gone.. I had the same issue and I logged call with Apple Care she suggest me to report the problem here http://www.apple.com/feedback/ which I did, you should too if you keep getting the same issue.

This happens with me as well. When I've had my 13" tbMBP sleep, opening the laptop and pushing the Touch ID button to wake often doesn't work... (I'll wait a full 5 seconds after and still nothing). Whereas clicking the touchpad or pushing a key, it will pretty much wake immediately. Once it does wake though, putting my finger on the Touch ID sensor (not pushing the button) will unlock the MBP fine. I don't know if that's on purpose or not, but now I just 100% wake the computer by pushing the trackpad.
 
Touch ID on my Macbook Pro 15" works a few times after a reboot. Then it stops working. I don't even get the pointer from the touch bar soon after. When it works, I see all fingerprints in Touch ID settings. When it stops working, I login with a password and enter settings for Touch ID. My finger print sets are gone. I try to add them and I get an error message that I have used up my three sets. And there is noting to delete so I can replace the fingerprint sets. After a reboot, they magically reappear. And after a few attempts, the problem reappears.
