hello macrumors,

So i am planning to buy the new MacBook pro 2016, but i dont know the right configuration for me, so hopefully u guys can help me.

So i'm looking for the base 15" model or just only upgrading the 450 2gb card to a 460 4gb.

I am using the laptop just for browsing,
E-mails, a bit of lightroom sometimes, just for the hobby. Maybe Some world of warcraft or something. No heavy games like the witcher etc...

And Watching Some movies.

Hope you guys can help me

If you intend to play any games at all and can afford it, get the 460

If you don't do video editing and "a bit of lightroom" you really won't have any benefits of the better graphics card.

In fact, if you don't store much media or install a lot of applications you would even be satisfied with the 256GB SSD. Else, go for the 512GB SSD. For your applications you don't need to update the CPU either, so stick to the 2.6 ghz.

You might want to 'downgrade' and save lots of bucks going for the 13" if you can accept the smaller screen. Else the 15" base model will do just fine.

2.7 460 runs black opps 2 perfectly at full resolution.

I bought that config because I think it's the best value for me. The 256GB doesn't bother me, but I am going to take advantage of the graphics performance increase. Photoshop, Illustrator and under Windows SolidWorks and some light gaming (by which I mean playing a heavy game like GTA V but not expecting much from it and playing just for fun; got a console for more serious gaming).

Not sure what WoW requires, but if you have the money it might be worth the upgrade. I believe the performance increase is significant although neither cards are really meant for gaming.

If your thinking of gaming upgrading to the 460 is a must, it's a fairly low end GPU as it is so going for anything lower would just be crazy if you are planning on keeping the laptop for any length of time.

Oké cool,

And if i want to play like world of warcraft, do i have to upgrade to the 460?

Not reallly if just wow. Consider I run full wow settings on a retina MacBook Pro from 2012. 25 man raid I drop down to med-high. Hate those mages. They kill me fps.

Pm me if you want screenshots or videos.

Haven't tweeked the settings much but the 455 is more than capable of running wow at "6" at full resolution of that helps any
