My new MBP 2016 15" screen is creaking when it's open. It's very noticeable when I have it on my lap and move it the slightest.

I've managed to pinpoint the area, and it's on lid, "behind" the Macbook Pro text, at the bottom of the backside of the lid (center). If I give it a tap or a push with my finger, it does this popping/creaking noise.

It only happens when the screen is open and is on a surface, like a table or my lap.

Is this normal? Can anyone please test if this is happening for you too?

It's very annoying when it just creaks and pops when using it :/

Thanks!

I had a slight tapping sound near the screen if the machine shook with vigorous typing or if I moved it. However this sound has completely disappeared so perhaos it's a case of a breaking in period for the tightly fixed screen hinges? I have had my MBP for around two months now and had the sound for the first 3-4 weeks.

Thanks for the reply! I've had mine for about two weeks now. I'll wait 2 more and it'll hopefully be gone.

Is this normal though? I've never had it with my previous MBP or MBA.

I hear the same exact noise on mine, it's silly and such a little thing, but it's driving me insane D:

I've since sent mine in for service, since it's under warranty. I'm waiting to hear back from them. I've tested two other 15" from 2016 and they don't creak like this, so I want mine fixed too :)

It was annoying for me, since it's a brand new (expensive) computer, and I would suggest you do the same, if it's driving you insane.

I might have to do that... It's a shame since everything else has been fine with it and I didn't want to be stuck without a computer for a couple of days. Please let us know what you hear back from them!

I've just gotten a reply now. They won't fix it. They say that they don't have a quality control for these things, and that it's not a known problem.

They also asked me to stop pressing on the screen. What I said, like 10 times, was that it happens during regular usage, and not just when pressing. The pressing was just to reproduce the problem.

Oh well. I'm glad it's a work computer, else I would be so pissed.

Did you ever get your computer fixed? Did they charge you anything?
