I've googled and googled and haven't found a solution.

I recently reformatted my Mac and upgraded to Mojave. Since then, My wifi disconnects once or twice per hour.

I've obviously updated, but the problem persists. I've tried changing Network Location and that didn't work.

Has anyone had the same issue and successfully resolved it?

I had a similar problem. It came down to USB C accessories interfering with the wifi antennas. Swapping them out for better quality brand name ones solved it for me

I've had that issue before - but I wrapped tin foil around the connector and then electrical taped it. This is a USB C to display port adapter.

How do I know if the one I'm buying is high quality and won't have the same issue?

I still have the same issue with no USB peripherals attached (aside from the charger).

5Ghz is often not available where I'm at.

Anyone else have the same issue?

Is it possible my wifi card is defective?

Happens without any USB cables connected.
