I think we will know more once ifixit release their teardown, also I do not know if there is any way one can identify the 3rd gen by just looking at as you could with gen 1 and 2

Interesting. My 2016 nTB had the battery/topcase/keyboard replaced on July 5th. Currently, my Wh is calculated at 56.26 (4858mAh/11.581V).

I thought the OEM spec battery for this model was 54.5Wh? Maybe the "overage" is within normal specs?

So I guess I'll never have the 3rd gen keyboard on my 2017 nTB, since Apple didn't update this model at all this year and they still sell it with the old keyboard.
