Hi there,

i'm having some trouble with my 2017 macbook pro fn keys.

As i turn on the pc the screen remain black and won't start.

By link the macbook to an external monitor i used the Diagnostic Apple and the problems are the following:
  • VFD001: There may be an issue with the display.
  • NDC001 :There may be an issue with the camera.
Does this code are referred to a specific part of the hardware?

Why if i link the pc to an external monitor it works only in a safe mode?

Thanks in advance

Could be a problem with the ribbon cable. Its a design flaw in the cable connecting the body of the laptop to the display. That cable is supposed to flex with the opening and closing of the computer, but it wears down too quickly with conventional use. Did this happen over time slowly or just out the blue?

Some users have reported that Apple will repair it under goodwill, your mileage may vary though.

I understand the problem. It should be the "flexgate" problem, right?

The mac was given to me with the problem. i don't know if it happened over time slowly or it happened from a day to another. Does it change something?

Yesterday night i checked the flex cable you're talking about but they seem in good condition.

Did you get this resolved?

Hi Anthony. Unfortunately I didn't solved the problem. I tried to check all the connection related to the flexgate problem but they are all in good conditions. I also tried to change the monitor with another one but it doesn't work anyway. I think there should be a problem with some connection with the logic board I can't solve by myself. For repairing they ask me 150-250 € don't know if it worth it.

I have the NDC001 error and I replace the screen. The error still shows up and the camera doesn't work.

Hello, I bought a 2017 MacBook Pro without a broken screen A1708 touch bar.

After changing the screen and doing a diagnostic I have the error code NCD001 which means the camera is not connected and therefore not working (FaceTime and photobooth). After performing the following operations: SMC, NVRAM, it still does not work.

Has anyone had the same problem as me and if there is a solution I'm in!

Thank you

I have the same issue and I put back the original screen and it still has the same error. I got another OEM screen that didn't work either.

I'm still trying to figure it out also.
