Hi Everyone,

I have a 2014 Macbook Air, which I will be trading in/selling. I am looking for advice regarding the purchase of a 2017 or 2018 Macbook Pro. I will use the laptop for some photo editing, 3D reconstructions, and graduate work. I need to make a decision to purchase one of the following:
1) Macbook Pro 2017-
processor: 3.5 GHz Intel Core i7
memory: 16GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
storage: 1 TB
2) Macbook Pro 2018-
processor: 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
memory: 8GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
storage: 500 GB

Which is the better computer for my needs? I would appreciate any and all advice!

Edit: this is the 13" I'm referring to

If you're looking at the 13 inch model, then you're going from a dual core to a quad core - that's a big deal. PLUS, the 2017 has KNOWN keyboard issues, whereas the 2018 has been re-designed and SUPPOSEDLY it will have a smaller failure rate. I'd go with the 2018, but get the 16GB of RAM on it

2018 16GB/512 would be ideal. Otherwise it's a tough decision between these two and will depend on whether you need those 16GB RAM or not.
