Macbook Pro 2018 clean install

Dear all,

I have a Macbook Pro 13" 2018 and would like do an upgrade from Mojave to the latest. The normal upgrade process terminates with an error. If I boot from a USB-Stick with MacOS on it also terminates after a while the setup terminates, one time though it started to reinstall and terminated with :" "storage system verify or repair failed (-69716)

Any idea what I could do?

I ran Fsck see the result in the screenshot

So for the "normal process" you just mean you're going to software update window and letting it download/install automatically and the USB drive you're using has a separate copy, correct? Because those errors look to me like your copy of macOS is no good, but I'm definitely not the expert here.
 
1. Shutdown the machine
2. Make sure power adapter is plugged in
3. Press and hold Option, Command & R and tap the power button
4. Release the keys once Internet recovery starts
5. Enter wifi password when prompted
6. Once Recovery is downloaded and booted, open Disk Utility
7. Erase all the partitions on Drive and Create a new macOS partition with APFS
8. Close Disk Utility and start macOS setup
9. Wait for install to complete

Hint: Internet Recovery sometimes fails to start.
Hint: Some internet connection types are not supported in recovery mode.
Hint: Hardware changes/upgrades can stop internet recovery as EFI doesn't have drivers for non-factory hardware.

Yes--I had a friend restore a dead iMac this way and it worked great. Didn't even think about this option.

So when you say remove all partitions you also mean the Apple disk image with the "macOS Base System"?
 
xkam has it "just about" right in reply 5 above, but he left out one step:

"6. Once Recovery is downloaded and booted, open Disk Utility"

Add Step 6a:
6a. EXTREMELY IMPORTANT STEP: once you open disk utility, go to the "view" menu and choose "show ALL devices". Now select "the top line on the left" which represents the physical hard drive inside. THEN click the "erase" button.
